NWS Philadelphia/Mount Holly wrote its last area forecast discussion before the first event at Nov 5, 2:48 AM EST, 5 hours 12 minutes earlier.
AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MOUNT HOLLY NJ 248 AM EST MON NOV 5 2001 HAVE FAVORED AVN MODEL UP TO THIS POINT. HOWEVER...THERE IS A DOWNSTREAM RIDGE OVER THE CENTRAL ATLANTIC. SO...THINK THE AVN MIGHT BE A BIT TOO FAST LIFTING OUT THE CUTOFF THAT FORMS FROM THE VIGOROUS SHORT WAVE THAT MOVED THROUGH FA THIS EVE. THEREFORE HAVE SLOWED DOWN THE CLEARING AND THE DIMINISHING OF THE WINDS A BIT FROM PREV FCST. WITH THE CYCLONIC FLOW AROUND THE LOW AND THE NRLY H8 FETCH WITH FAIRLY COLD H8 TEMPS HAVE KEPT THE CHC OF SHOWERS OR SPRINKLES IN NRN AND WRN ZONES TODAY DESPITE THE STRONG NEG VVS DEPICTED IN THE MODELS. MODELS SUGGEST AN INVERSION DEVELOPING TONIGHT AS N FLOW CONTS...ALSO A REASON TO SLOW DOWN CLEARING AND ESCHEW ANY MENTION OF PCPN. IF LOW PROGRESSES MORE SLOWLY PERHAPS THE INVERSION WOULD BE SLOWER TO FORM. THIS MIGHT INDICATE SPRINKLES OR FLURRIES FOR FAR NWRN ZONES TONIGHT...BUT WONT GO THERE THIS PACKAGE. RIGHT NOW AM KEEPING THE OPTIMISTIC TUE/TUE NIGHT FCST FOR SUNSHINE/GENERALLY CLEAR SKIES AND A BEGINNING OF A WARMUP. WINDS CERTAINLY SUFFICIENT FOR SCA BAY AND COAST AS LOW DEEPENS OFF NEW ENGLAND COAST.
