Rain changed to snow, especially in the higher terrain, as a low pressure center developed in the Gulf of Maine. Snowfall amounts generally ranged from 1 to 4 inches, with up to 6 inches in the higher terrain. The wet snow and near-freezing temperatures caused slippery conditions which contributed to numerous accidents throughout the area.
