THIS IS MAINLY THE RESULT OF LOWERED HEIGHTS AND SYNOPTIC COOLING AS THE RIDGE SHIFTS EAST AND THE TROUGH CURRENTLY MOVES INTO NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. TO THE SOUTH... SUBTROPICAL MOISTURE CONTINUES TO MOVE INTO FAR SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AS THE UPPER LOW SPINS AROUND 25/120. MAIN FORECAST CONCERN IN THE SHORT TERM IS TRENDING THE COOLDOWN OVER THE AREA AND JUST HOW MUCH WIND WILL BLOW IN THE KERN MOUNTAINS AND DESERTS. MODELS IN GOOD AGREEMENT IN KEEPING THE TROUGH AXIS OVER NORTHERN CALIFORNIA WHILE EJECTING A LOW EAST ACROSS THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. HEIGHTS BOTTOM OUT AROUND 5820 METERS ON SUNDAY AND REMAIN INTO MONDAY. SYNOPTICALLY THE PROGGED 850 MB TEMPERATURES FALL ABOUT 3 DEGREES CELSIUS ON SUNDAY AND ANOTHER 2-3 DEGREES ON MONDAY. THE POTENTIAL MARINE INFLUENCE IN THE SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY WILL COMPLICATE THINGS AS USUAL. MARINE LAYER AT FORT ORD IS NOW APPROACHING 1800 FEET THICK AND A SLOW UPWARD TREND CONTINUES. SHOULD SEE A CONTINUED "BLEEDING" OF MARINE AIR INTO THE SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY. IN THE SOUTH COAST...AT GOLETA THE PROFILER SHOWS MARINE LAYER AT AROUND 1500 FEET WITH A DEFINITE UPWARD TREND AND THIS SHOULD WORK ITS WAY ACROSS THE KERN COUNTY DESERTS FOR COOLER TEMPERATURES THERE ALSO. WINDS WILL BE FAIRLY STRONG OVER THE KERN DESERTS AND THROUGH THE KERN MOUNTAIN PASSES AS SURFACE GRADIENTS TIGHTEN AND THE COOLER MARINE AIR MOVES IN.
