"Outflow" westerly winds reached at least 62 mph according to the Whittier Harbormaster Monday midday. Gusty westerly winds, reaching 52 mph, were reported also on the 'official' Whittier observation during this time.

"Outflow" westerly winds reached at least 62 mph according to the Whittier Harbormaster Monday midday. Gusty westerly winds, reaching 52 mph, were reported also on the 'official' Whittier observation during this time. Whittier observations are taken by a contract observer who monitors winds, remoted from the Whittier Harbor building, for brief periods during the hour. There is no peak wind equipment at the site. No specials are available from this site...and it typically does not record peak conditions.In this case, cold "outflow" winds were likely stronger at the head of the bay...rather than at the boat harbor.
