Thunderstorms that produced heavy rain and gusty winds moved across the Eastern Panhandle during the afternoon and evening of the 31st. In Mineral and Hardy Counties, heavy downpours flooded streets in Moorefield and Piedmont. In Hampshire County, 2.25 inches of rain fell in Romney in 30 minutes which resulted in flooded roads. In Grant County, street flooding was reported in Petersburg. Winds in excess of 55 MPH blew garage doors off a hanger at the Grant County Airport near Petersburg. The roof of a pool bath house was blown off and trees were downed in the vicinity.
