Thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening of the 31st produced flash flooding and damaging lightning.Heavy thunderstorm rains during the late afternoon of the 31st flooded and closed part of Route 58, five miles southeast of South Boston.Lightning struck a house in Irisburg and in Leesville starting fires that destroyed both houses.
