July 2000 was one of the coolest Julys on record for Eastern Pennsylvania. At the Lehigh Valley International Airport, the monthly mean temperature of 70.2 degrees was 3.9 degrees below normal and was the third coolest July on record. At the Philadelphia International Airport, the monthly mean temperature of 74.0 degrees was 2.7 degrees below normal. It was the 9th coolest July on record and the coolest July since 1984 when the monthly mean temperature was 73.9 degrees. It was also an unseasonably wet July around the immediate Philadelphia area and in Monroe County. The monthly rainfall total at the Philadelphia International Airport was 5.54 inches, 1.26 inches above normal. Delaware County (on a county weighted average) had the wettest July in Eastern Pennsylvania with a monthly rainfall total of around 6.0 inches.
