In New Jersey, March 2000 was an unseasonably warm month and was also unseasonably wet across the southern third of the state. The rest of the state had near normal monthly precipitation. The statewide monthly average temperature of 44.9 degrees was the 8th warmest March on record since 1895. At the Atlantic City International Airport, the March monthly average temperature of 46.4 degrees was the 4th warmest on record. At the Marina within Atlantic City the monthly mean temperature of 47.8 degrees tied the 3rd warmest March on record. March 2000 was also one of the ten warmest Marches on record at the nearby Lehigh Valley and Philadelphia International Airports. Precipitation was above normal in the southern third of the state. On a county weighted average, the monthly precipitation total ranged from 5.5 inches in Atlantic and Gloucester Counties to 7.9 inches in Salem County. The March monthly precipitation total at the Atlantic City International Airport was 5.13 inches.
