March 2000 was an unseasonably warm and wet month across the Maryland Eastern Shore. The statewide monthly average temperature of 47.6 degrees was the 7th warmest March on record since 1895. Precipitation was above normal throughout the state, especially along the Eastern Shore. County weighted monthly precipitation totals ranged from 5.6 inches in Kent County to 7.5 inches in Cecil County. All of the Eastern Shore county weighted monthly precipitation averages were at least 150 percent of normal.
