Winds of a significant nature but just below warning thresholds occurred over the higher terrain and deserts of Interior Central California from late in the morning on the 31st of March into the wee hours of April 1st. Winds of a significant nature but just below warning thresholds occurred over the higher terrain and deserts of Interior Central California from late in the morning on the 31st of March into the wee hours of April 1st. Mesonet stations reported north winds reaching 52 MPH at Mojave at 1052 PST, sustained at 50 MPH at Laurel Mountain (with a few higher gusts) at 1200 PST, Gusts to 59 MPH at 1200 PST at Indian Wells Canyon at noon, and sustained 35 MPH at China Lake NWTC in the Kern Deserts at 1156 PST. In the higher elevations of the S.Sierra Nevada gusts to 52 MPH were reported at Mt. Tom. This event continued until midday on April 1st. Additional reports included gusts to 44 MPH at Walker Pass and Shaver Peak around 0200 PST on the 1st, and, again, higher gusts (68 MPH) in the Indian Wells Canyon around midnight of the 31st.
