Eastern Nebraska's first winter storm of the 2000/2001 season dropped up to 11 inches of snow over northeast Nebraska. The snow fell over a 12 to 18 hour period beginning Saturday morning 11/11/00 continuing into early Sunday morning 11/12/00. Most of the snow fell with relatively light east winds...however the wind switched to the northwest and increased late Sunday into Monday causing considerable blowing and drifting snow which canceled many schools Monday. Snowfall amounts included 10-11 inches at Petersburg, around 8 inches at Osmond, Albion and Lindsay, and 6 to 7 inches at Neligh, Hartington, Norfolk, Madison, Center and Stanton.
