The first blast of arctic air across Lake Michigan herald the start of first lake effect snow event of the season across northwest Indiana by late afternoon on the 20th. most locations from LaPorte to Elkhart reported heavy snow which continued into Tuesday morning.
Deaths and injuries are direct and indirect together, as the offices filed them. Damage is property and crops in the dollars of the year, not adjusted for inflation, and only where an office estimated it.

By late evening...most locations from LaPorte to Elkhart reported heavy snow which continued into Tuesday morning. Some notable storm total snowfall reports included 12 inches at the South Bend Waste Water plant... 10 inches in New Carlisle... and 7 inches at the South Bend airport.
