Winter Storm in Georgia, November 19, 2000
An unusually early winter storm brought sleet and snow to much of north Georgia, particularly the northeast mountains. Snowfall from 1 to 3 inches was common in the northeast Georgia mountains, particularly north and east of a line from Blue Ridge to Cleveland.

An unusually early winter storm brought sleet and snow to much of north Georgia, particularly the northeast mountains. Snowfall from 1 to 3 inches was common in the northeast Georgia mountains, particularly north and east of a line from Blue Ridge to Cleveland. Fannin county received the most snow with 3 to 4 inches, while just to the east in Town, Union, and White counties, 1 to 2 inches were common. Further south and southwest, sleet was the primary form of precipitation, with some light snow. Accumulations of sleet and snow in these areas were minor, generally less than 1/4 inch. Nonetheless, numerous automobile accidents were reported, particularly in Floyd county, where bridges and overpasses became icy and hazardous during the morning hours.
