Damaging Winds in Colorado, March 5, 2000
Gusty southerly surface winds ahead of an approaching storm system, coupled with the development of some high based thunderstorms, caused a series of intense dry microbursts during the afternoon hours across portions of the Urban Corridor and adjacent plains. A storm spotter located 8 miles southeast of Matheson, reported a peak wind gust to 62 mph (53 kts).

Gusty southerly surface winds ahead of an approaching storm system, coupled with the development of some high based thunderstorms, caused a series of intense dry microbursts during the afternoon hours across portions of the Urban Corridor and adjacent plains. A storm spotter located 8 miles southeast of Matheson, reported a peak wind gust to 62 mph (53 kts). In addition, the automated weather observing stations at the Limon and Fort Collins/Loveland Airports registered gusts to 60 mph (52 kts) and 59 mph (51 kts) respectively.
