Southwesterly winds gusted to over 50 knots as a strong area of low pressure passed across the area. Numerous trees were blown down by the high winds across portions of east central Ohio. In Jefferson County, a church steeple at the Wintersville Baptist Temple was blown over by the winds. More damage was reported in Jefferson County as the high winds knocked over part of a concrete wall surrounding the American Electric Power plant in Brilliant. Part of this wall knocked over a liquid oxygen tank, causing a leak in the electric plant. No injuries were reported.
