Deaths and injuries are direct and indirect together, as the offices filed them. Damage is property and crops in the dollars of the year, not adjusted for inflation, and only where an office estimated it.
Deep tropical moisture remained over North Carolina at the end of September. Several days of scattered thunderstorms had saturated the ground in the Piedmont once again. The approach of a strong cold front was finally going to end our wet spell. However, the associated warm front with the system produced a persistent area of thunderstorms which flooded many low lying areas and secondary roads.
