Scattered severe thunderstorms continued from the evening of 5/31 into the early morning hours of the 1st. These storms produced hail up to 1 inch in diameter and wind gusts of 70 mph. Tree damage was reported primarily along and east of US Highway 281. A house under construction on the south side of Smith Center was heavily damaged by the strong winds. The community greenhouse in Formoso was also damaged by the wind. The downed trees caused power outages as well.
