A severe thunderstorm knocked down a couple of trees and several power lines throughout the City of Wilmington. About 1,500 homes and businesses lost power, most within the city. Lightning also struck one home in Wilmington and knocked down its chimney. Several cars were damaged when bricks from the chimney fell onto the alley behind the house.
