The Rumsey Incident was responsible for burning 3,015 acres. Fire suppression costs approached 1 million dollars. Six injuries and zero deaths were reported. The fire threatened structures and closed Highway 16 from Rumsey to Highway 20. Erratic winds and steep terrain prolonged the control process.
