High Wind in Alaska, November 16 to 17, 1999
A strong front, associated with an extremely intense low (940 mb center) moved east and northeast acrossthe Bering Sea Tuesday and Wednesday. Strong southeast winds preceded the front in the extreme western Aleutians, gusting as high as 75 mph at Shemya Tuesday.

A strong front, associated with an extremely intense low (940 mb center) moved east and northeast acrossthe Bering Sea Tuesday and Wednesday. Strong southeast winds preceded the front in the extreme western Aleutians, gusting as high as 75 mph at Shemya Tuesday. As the front progressed toward the southwest coast of the State, it slowly weakened. Wind gusts in the central Aleutians, Pribilofs and western Alaska Peninsula gusted from 45 to 55 mph at many reporting sites late Tuesday and Wednesday.
