Strong southerly winds occurred across the area Tuesday evening into early Wednesday before shifting to the west Wednesday. Throughout Franklin county, strong winds blew down a number of trees and power lines with power outages reported. In Tupper Lake, NY winds were reported as 40 mph or higher with higher gusts, along with trees blown down.
