A very intense low pressure system over the central Plains was responsible for strong south winds ahead of a cold front. Cape Girardeau emergency management officials reported gusts to 60 MPH. Scattered trees or limbs were down in Perry, Bollinger, Wayne, Ripley, and Cape Girardeau Counties, but no personal property was reported to be damaged. Right after these high winds, a narrow line of showers and thunderstorms moved rapidly past, producing more high winds of their own.
