A strong low pressure system passing over the Atlantic to the south and southeast of Cape Cod brought rain and strong winds to central and eastern Massachusetts. This nor'easter caused winds gusting to 40 to 50 mph, especially over coastal areas.

A strong low pressure system passing over the Atlantic to the south and southeast of Cape Cod brought rain and strong winds to central and eastern Massachusetts. This nor'easter caused winds gusting to 40 to 50 mph, especially over coastal areas. The Blue Hill Observatory in Milton had a peak wind gust to 62 mph around 7:30 PM. In the town of Spencer, in Worcester County, a large section of an oak tree fell and damaged telephone lines and blocked a local road. There were no other reports of damage.
