A rapidly deepening low moved northward into the extreme western Aleutians midday Tuesday, drifting north thereafter finally making landfall near Cape Navarin, Russia Thursday morning where it weakened rapidly. The front associated with this storm elongated north and east through the Aleutians and southern Bering Sea, finally weakening in an arc from Saint Lawrence Island to Etolin Straits and King Cove at 9 am Thursday. Strong southeast winds preceded the front, gusting near 60 mph across most of the Aleutians and as high as 44 mph around the Pribilofs.
