Strong east winds preceding and accompanying a low pressure system that moved north from Cape Hatteras North Carolina through New Jersey during the day on the 1st knocked over some weak trees in Middlesex County and pulled down some wires in Burlington County. In Middlesex County, in East Brunswick, an uprooted tree took down wires on Ainsworth Avenue and subsequently caused a power outage to about 200 homes. New Jersey State Route 27 was blocked by fallen trees in northern parts of Middlesex County. Peak wind gusts during the day were close to 40 mph at both the Atlantic City and Newark International Airports.
