A strong synoptic pressure gradient brought generally strong winds to the mountains. The 59 mph gust occurred at Calaveras County Airport on the 23rd at 1050 pm. 12,000 customers were without power as the strong winds toppled trees and snapped power poles. Heaviest damage occurred in Amador and Calaveras Counties.
