A microburst caused wind damage in a three block area in the Whippany area of Hanover Township. The most severe wind damage was on Longview Drive where three houses suffered structural damage from fallen trees. A tree completely crushed the attic of one house. A couple of trees also fell on houses on three other blocks. Some vehicles and fences were crushed by the uprooted trees. Direct wind damage to homes was mostly limited to torn rain gutters. New Jersey Central Power and Light reported about 10,000 homes lost power in Morris and Somerset County, half of which still were without power five hours after the thunderstorms moved through. No serious injuries were reported.
