A severe thunderstorm produced damaging winds and large hail in southeastern Cayuga County in the town of New Hope. Wind gusts, which were unofficially clocked at 86 mph, downed several trees, turned over farm vehicles, and flattened more than 800 acres of crops.

A severe thunderstorm produced damaging winds and large hail in southeastern Cayuga County in the town of New Hope. Wind gusts, which were unofficially clocked at 86 mph, downed several trees, turned over farm vehicles, and flattened more than 800 acres of crops. Golfball sized hail was also observed which cracked the windshield of a pickup truck and further contributed to the destruction of crops.
