A strong low pressure system developed just off the DELMARVA Coast early Friday morning and moved slowly northeast. It passed south of Long Island during the late morning before moving east of Long Island Friday afternoon.It produced heavy rain and strong gusty winds. Rainfall amounts ranged from 1 to 2 inches. Rain changed to wet snow over higher elevations as the storm moved east. Peak wind gusts ranged from 40 to 50 MPH.Here are selected rainfall amounts for:Bergen County: from 1.26 inches at Teterboro to 1.44 inches at Franklin Lakes.Passaic County: from 0.99 inches at Wanaque to 1.62 inches at Charlotteburg.Essex County: 1.84 inches at Verona and 1.88 inches at Essex Falls.
