Heavy rain caused flash flooding in northeast Illinois. A cooperative observer in Burbank reported 3.15 inches of rain in less than 2 hours. Flooded streets and basements affected a small part of southern Cook County. In Grundy County, flash flooding closed Route 6, west of Morris. As much as 3.5 inches of rain fell in a short period. There was damage to recently planted crops. The Morris Country Club Golf Course was damaged by flooding. Sandbaggin took place in Seneca to protect some homes. Three to six inches of rain fell in a wide area of southern Iroquois County. Cissna Park received up to 6 inches of rain in a 2 to 3 hour period. There was widespread flooding along Pigeon Creek. About 250 homes had water in their basements. Houses in Milford near Sugar Creek were surrounded by flood waters. Parts of Route 1 and Route 49 were closed from flooding. Chapel Bridge on the road to Stockland was reported under water during the height of the flood.
