April 18, 2018 Earthquake: Banjarnegara, Java, Indonesia

Emergency handling of the earthquake impacts that shook the region in the District of Banjarnegara, Central Java province continues to be done. A magnitude 4.4 earthquake with an earthquake onshore at a depth of 4 kilometers at a distance of 52 kilometers north of Kebumen occurred on 18/4/2018 at 13:28 pm. The shallow quake center with the loose soil conditions in Banjarnegara caused severe damage in the Kalibening District of Banjarnegara District.

Temporary data collected by BPBD Banjarnegara, earthquake caused 2 people died, 21 people injured and 316 houses damaged. Two people died were Asep (13) 5th grader from elementary school of Kasinoman and Ny. Kasri (80) a resident of Bakalan Village Kasinoman Village. A total of 21 people were injured. Victims were treated at puskesmas and in local hospitals. The victims were mostly caused by the collapsed buildings. Damage damaged 316 units of houses scattered in the Village Kasinoman 217 units of houses, Kertosari Village as many as 62 units of houses and Plorengan Village 37 units of houses. It is estimated that the number of damaged increases considering not all houses damaged recorded, both heavily damaged, moderately damaged and slightly damaged. Data collection is still done by the joint officers. Public buildings damaged include mosque in Plorengan Village 1 unit, mosque in Kertosari Village 1 unit, mosque in Kasinoman 1 unit, Mosque in Kasinoman 1 unit and SMKN 2 Kalibening building. The number of temporary IDPs as many as 526 families or 2,104 people is spread in several refugee points in 4 villages in Kalibening sub-district in Kasinoman Village, Kertosari Village, Plorengan Village and Sidakangen Village.

A devastating earthquake in Indonesia has killed three people and damaged hundreds of homes, the country's Meteorology and Geophysics Agency has reported. It is understood that more than 300 homes, together with several schools and mosques have been affected by the quake in addition to the three casualties. Central Java's Disaster Management Agency head Sarwo Pramana reported that the tremor killed two elderly people and a 13-year-old boy. They all remained crushed under collapsing buildings.
