beginning to rise once again to near 35.0 feet by Tuesday morning.
* Impacts at 35.0 feet...Road between Judsonia and Kensett flooded.
Water near couple of homes in lower lying portions of Judsonia.
With locally heavy rainfall, portions of State Highway 36 may be
impassable between West Point and Georgetown. River reached a stage
of 35.1 feet in May 2003.

* Major flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 26.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 33.5 feet by
Saturday morning.
* Impacts at 31.0 feet...Patrolling of Newport, Jacksonport, and
Village Creek Levees begins. Homes and businesses inside levee
at Newport flooded. State Highways 14, 37, 69, 367, and 384 may
all be impacted by flooding with the lower lying highways closed.
* Impacts at 34.0 feet...White River crested in December 1982 and
March 2008 at 34 feet. Railroad Bridge downstream of Newport
overtopped. Serious flooding in Jacksonport and Newport. Homes
along State Highway 14 are flooded. Village Creek backing into
portions of Newport. These crest are the highest since completion
of Bull Shoals Dam in 1951. State Highways 14, 37, 69, 122, 367,
and 384 all affected.

* At 8:00 PM Friday the stage was 38.1 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 26.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 38.5 feet by
Sunday evening.
* Impacts at 38.0 feet...Very serious flooding problems. Water
covers a large expanse of the floodplain. Portions of Augusta,
Bradford and Russell flood. Homes and camps along the river near
Taylor Bay in Woodruff County and across the river in White County
will be cut off by high water. Cypress Bayou will back over State
Highway 33 north of Augusta. Portions of State Highway 262 begin to
flood and levees south of Augusta towards McClelland should be
monitored. County road closures will be numerous in White and
Woodruff counties.
* Impacts at 39.0 feet...Serious problems in White and Woodruff
counties. State Highway 33 north of Augusta flooded. Taylor Bay
homes and trailors flooded. Water along U.S. Highway 64 as far west
as Worden. Many homes and camps flooded along the river near Taylor
Bay in Woodruff County and across the river in White County. Crest
history is 38.4 feet in March 2008, 38.3 feet in December 1982, and
37.8 feet in April 2008.

* At 8:00 PM Friday the stage was 29.8 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 21.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 32.0 feet by
Tuesday morning.
* Impacts at 30.0 feet...Overtopping of both Little Red River Levees
between 30 and 31 feet. Highest crest since completion of upstream
reservoirs was 33.95 feet in May 2011, second highest was 30.2 feet
in March 2008, third highest was 30.1 feet in April 1973. Georgetown
is an island and persons in the community should leave or be prepared
for a prolonged stay. Many homes and cabins are flooded along the lower
reaches of the Little Red River and for several miles along State
Highway 36 west of the White River in White County.
* Impacts at 32.0 feet...Overtopping of Kitty Barnes Levee in Woodruff
and Prairie counties. Flood of record, was 33.95 feet May 2011.

* At 8:00 PM Friday the stage was 31.7 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 24.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 36.5 feet by
Wednesday morning.
* Impacts at 32.0 feet...Flood of December 1982 crested at 32.1 ft.
Third highest crest since upstream reservoirs completed. Extensive
flooding in the river valley with numerous roads flooded and some
structures flooded north of Des Arc along Highway 11 and near Spring
Lake. A high Mississippi River level can raise and prolong flooding
along the lower White River as far upstream as Des Arc.
* Impacts at 33.5 feet...Homes and highways at Des Arc and nearby are
flooded. River crested at 33.7 feet in March and again in April 2008.
Very serious flooding. State Highways 33, 38, and 11 all flooded.
* Impacts at 37.0 feet...Extensive flooding similar to conditions in
February 1949 when the river rose to 37.45 feet, with numerous
roads closed and homes in and near Des Arc flooded.

* At 8:00 PM Friday the stage was 30.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 26.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 35.5 feet by
Friday morning.
* Impacts at 30.0 feet...Clarendon storm sewer should be closed to
keep river from backing up outflow pipe. Extensive flooding in
the delta. Most cropland and timber in bottoms are flooded. Much
of the National Wildlife Refuge land downstream of Clarendon will
be flooded.
* Impacts at 32.0 feet...State Highway 302 north of Clarendon may be
affected. Some industrial property in Clarendon on river side of levee
may be flooded. Many access problems for recreational properties
downstream of Clarendon. Many downstream areas are accessable by boat
only. Height and duration of flooding along the lower White River is
greatly dependant on the level of the Mississippi River in combination
with the flow rate of the White River.
* Impacts at 33.0 feet...Most all of the land within the levees is
inundated. Large portions of the Cache and White River National Wildlife
Refuges are flooded. River crested at 33 feet in March 2008, 33.8 feet
in April 2008, 35 feet in May 1973. High Mississippi River worsens flooding
on the lower White River. Homes and cabins from Clarendon to Saint Charles
will be impacted by the high water. Those chosing to remain in their homes
should have sufficient supplies for long term isolation.
* Impacts at 35.0 feet...River flooding is very serious. Second
highest crest since the completion of the flood control reservoirs
was 35 feet in May 1973. River Valley is like a large lake. Many
secondary roads are flooded. Most cropland in the floodplain
flooded.

* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to a stage of 32.6 feet
by Monday morning.
* Impacts at 31.0 feet...Patrolling of Newport, Jacksonport, and
Village Creek Levees begins. Homes and businesses inside levee
at Newport flooded. State Highways 14, 37, 69, 367, and 384 may
all be impacted by flooding with the lower lying highways closed.
* Impacts at 34.0 feet...White River crested in December 1982 and
March 2008 at 34 feet. Railroad Bridge downstream of Newport
overtopped. Serious flooding in Jacksonport and Newport. Homes
along State Highway 14 are flooded. Village Creek backing into
portions of Newport. These crest are the highest since completion
of Bull Shoals Dam in 1951. State Highways 14, 37, 69, 122, 367,
and 384 all affected.

* Forecast...The river is very near crest and will be at 38.7 feet
Sunday morning. The river will then very slowly fall to 38.5 feet
by Tuesday morning.
* Impacts at 39.0 feet...Serious problems in White and Woodruff
counties. State Highway 33 north of Augusta flooded. Taylor Bay
homes and trailors flooded. Water along U.S. Highway 64 as far west
as Worden. Many homes and camps flooded along the river near Taylor
Bay in Woodruff County and across the river in White County. Crest
history is 38.4 feet in March 2008, 38.3 feet in December 1982, and
37.8 feet in April 2008.

* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 32.0 feet by
Tuesday morning.
* Impacts at 30.0 feet...Overtopping of both Little Red River Levees
between 30 and 31 feet. Highest crest since completion of upstream
reservoirs was 33.95 feet in May 2011, second highest was 30.2 feet
in March 2008, third highest was 30.1 feet in April 1973. Georgetown
is an island and persons in the community should leave or be prepared
for a prolonged stay. Many homes and cabins are flooded along the lower
reaches of the Little Red River and for several miles along State
Highway 36 west of the White River in White County.
* Impacts at 32.0 feet...Overtopping of Kitty Barnes Levee in Woodruff
and Prairie counties. Flood of record, was 33.95 feet May 2011.

* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 36.5 feet by
Wednesday morning.
* Impacts at 32.0 feet...Flood of December 1982 crested at 32.1 ft.
Third highest crest since upstream reservoirs completed. Extensive
flooding in the river valley with numerous roads flooded and some
structures flooded north of Des Arc along Highway 11 and near Spring
Lake. A high Mississippi River level can raise and prolong flooding
along the lower White River as far upstream as Des Arc.
* Impacts at 33.5 feet...Homes and highways at Des Arc and nearby are
flooded. River crested at 33.7 feet in March and again in April 2008.
Very serious flooding. State Highways 33, 38, and 11 all flooded.
* Impacts at 37.0 feet...Extensive flooding similar to conditions in
February 1949 when the river rose to 37.45 feet, with numerous
roads closed and homes in and near Des Arc flooded.

* Moderate flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 26.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 35.5 feet by
Friday morning.
* Impacts at 30.0 feet...Clarendon storm sewer should be closed to
keep river from backing up outflow pipe. Extensive flooding in
the delta. Most cropland and timber in bottoms are flooded. Much
of the National Wildlife Refuge land downstream of Clarendon will
be flooded.
* Impacts at 32.0 feet...State Highway 302 north of Clarendon may be
affected. Some industrial property in Clarendon on river side of levee
may be flooded. Many access problems for recreational properties
downstream of Clarendon. Many downstream areas are accessable by boat
only. Height and duration of flooding along the lower White River is
greatly dependant on the level of the Mississippi River in combination
with the flow rate of the White River.
* Impacts at 33.0 feet...Most all of the land within the levees is
inundated. Large portions of the Cache and White River National Wildlife
Refuges are flooded. River crested at 33 feet in March 2008, 33.8 feet
in April 2008, 35 feet in May 1973. High Mississippi River worsens flooding
on the lower White River. Homes and cabins from Clarendon to Saint Charles
will be impacted by the high water. Those chosing to remain in their homes
should have sufficient supplies for long term isolation.
* Impacts at 35.0 feet...River flooding is very serious. Second
highest crest since the completion of the flood control reservoirs
was 35 feet in May 1973. River Valley is like a large lake. Many
secondary roads are flooded. Most cropland in the floodplain
flooded.

a large expanse of the floodplain. Portions of Augusta, Bradford and
Russell flood. Homes and camps along the river near Taylor Bay in
Woodruff County and across the river in White County will be cut off
by high water. Cypress Bayou will back over State Highway 33 north of
Augusta. Portions of State Highway 262 begin to flood and levees south
of Augusta towards McClelland should be monitored. County road closures
will be numerous in White and Woodruff counties.
* Impacts at 39.0 feet...Serious problems in White and Woodruff
counties. State Highway 33 north of Augusta flooded. Taylor Bay
homes and trailors flooded. Water along U.S. Highway 64 as far west

* Impacts at 33.5 feet...Homes and highways at Des Arc and nearby are
flooded. River crested at 33.7 feet in March and again in April 2008.
Very serious flooding. State Highways 33, 38, and 11 all flooded.
* Impacts at 37.0 feet...Extensive flooding similar to conditions in
February 1949 when the river rose to 37.45 feet, with numerous
roads closed and homes in and near Des Arc flooded.

* At 8:00 PM Sunday the stage was 31.9 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 26.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 35.5 feet by
early Sunday morning.
* Impacts at 32.0 feet...State Highway 302 north of Clarendon may be
affected. Some industrial property in Clarendon on river side of levee
may be flooded. Many access problems for recreational properties
downstream of Clarendon. Many downstream areas are accessable by boat
only. Height and duration of flooding along the lower White River is
greatly dependant on the level of the Mississippi River in combination
with the flow rate of the White River.
* Impacts at 33.0 feet...Most all of the land within the levees is
inundated. Large portions of the Cache and White River National Wildlife
Refuges are flooded. River crested at 33 feet in March 2008, 33.8 feet
in April 2008, 35 feet in May 1973. High Mississippi River worsens flooding
on the lower White River. Homes and cabins from Clarendon to Saint Charles
will be impacted by the high water. Those chosing to remain in their homes
should have sufficient supplies for long term isolation.
* Impacts at 35.0 feet...River flooding is very serious. Second
highest crest since the completion of the flood control reservoirs
was 35 feet in May 1973. River Valley is like a large lake. Many
secondary roads are flooded. Most cropland in the floodplain
flooded.

* Major flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 26.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to a stage of 36.8 feet
by Wednesday morning.
* Impacts at 38.0 feet...Very serious flooding problems. Water covers
a large expanse of the floodplain. Portions of Augusta, Bradford
and Russell flood. Homes and camps along the river near Taylor Bay
in Woodruff County and across the river in White County will be cut
off by high water. Cypress Bayou will back over State Highway 33
north of Augusta. Portions of State Highway 262 begin to flood and
levees south of Augusta towards McClelland should be monitored.
County road closures will be numerous in White and Woodruff
counties.

* Flood stage is 21.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is cresting near 31.5 feet and will begin
falling Tuesday night.
* Impacts at 30.0 feet...Overtopping of both Little Red River
Levees between 30 and 31 feet. Highest crest since completion
of upstream reservoirs was 33.95 feet in May 2011, second highest
was 30.2 feet in March 2008, third highest was 30.1 feet in April
1973. Georgetown is an island and persons in the community should
leave or be prepared for a prolonged stay. Many homes and cabins
are flooded along the lower reaches of the Little Red River and
for several miles along State Highway 36 west of the White River
in White County.
* Impacts at 32.0 feet...Overtopping of Kitty Barnes Levee in Woodruff
and Prairie counties. Flood of record, was 33.95 feet May 2011.

* Flood stage is 26.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 29.0 feet by
Sunday morning. After Sunday, the river will resume falling and
fall to 27.6 by Tuesday morning.
* Impacts at 28.0 feet...Bateman Levee may be threatened with
overtopping. State Highway 14 east of Newport at Village Creek
could be flooded by backwater. State Highway 14 west of Newport is
flooded. State Highway 69 in Independence County may be flooded.
Flooding up Village Creek extends to eastern portions of Newport.
Extensive flooding of cropland in Jackson and Independence County
along the White and the lower Black River. River crested slightly
above 28 feet in December 2001 and March 2002.

* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 34.2 feet by
early Saturday morning.
* Impacts at 33.0 feet...Most all of the land within the levees is
inundated. Large portions of the Cache and White River National
Wildlife Refuges are flooded. River crested at 33 feet in March
2008, 33.8 feet in April 2008, 35 feet in May 1973. High Mississippi
River worsens flooding on the lower White River. Homes and cabins
from Clarendon to Saint Charles will be impacted by the high water.
Those chosing to remain in their homes should have sufficient
supplies for long term isolation.
* Impacts at 35.0 feet...River flooding is very serious. Second
highest crest since the completion of the flood control reservoirs
was 35 feet in May 1973. River Valley is like a large lake. Many
secondary roads are flooded. Most cropland in the floodplain
flooded.

* Impacts at 33.0 feet...Most all of the land within the levees is
inundated. Large portions of the Cache and White River National
Wildlife Refuges are flooded. River crested at 33 feet in March
2008, 33.8 feet in April 2008, 35 feet in May 1973. High
Mississippi River worsens flooding on the lower White River. Homes
and cabins from Clarendon to Saint Charles will be impacted by the
high water. Those chosing to remain in their homes should have
sufficient supplies for long term isolation.

Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Little Rock AR 619 AM CDT Wed May 3 2017 .AVIATION... Convection continues to develop along a warm front located across the northern part of the state. VFR conditions early this morning will deteriorate as chances for SHRA/TSRA increase through the day as a storm system moves through the state. This will create MVFR or IFR or even possibly lower flight conditions in the afternoon hours and beyond for most sites with precipitation likely. Winds will shift to the northwest over the northwest half of the state by the end of the period as a front starts to make its way across the state. && .PREV DISCUSSION...(ISSUED 325 AM CDT Wed May 3 2017 ) Short Term...Today through Thursday night After only a few days to dry out from the strong weekend storm, rain once again appears likely for the majority of the CWA. Overall the system is more progressive than its predecessor but once again some areas could see locally heavy rain with increasing severe weather possibilities, especially over the south. With short term models in generally good agreement, a blend of forecast solutions will be used. Moisture channel imagery shows a shortwave trough currently moving through the central and southern plains. Meanwhile, a warm front is continuing to make its way north through the state with thunderstorm activity already ongoing over northeast Oklahoma and southern Missouri in response. Models all continue to point to amplification of the upper trough with an upper low pinching off and located over northern Arkansas by Thursday morning. Surface low pressure is expected to develop on the aforementioned boundary and travel east through the day. PWATS are expected to ramp up through the day as southerly flow increases with deep moisture getting into central and especially southern parts of the state. As the trough continues to advance and a cold front sweeps through the state, rain is expected to develop with southern Arkansas seeing the heaviest amounts. However, convection along the gulf will likely rob some of the available moisture but localized amounts in excess of two inches is likely, Another area of concern is the north with a swath of higher precipitation possible just to the north of the warm front. Another inch or two can not be ruled out across the north and with the ground so saturated, a flash flood watch seems prudent and it will be left in place. A line of storms is expected to develop in advance of the front and overall dynamics do look better versus previous runs. Once again the south seems to be the favored area for any severe weather but the risk area has been expanded to cover a good part of the state. Front will be east of the state by Thursday morning but the upper low will take most of the day to exit with an ongoing chance of showers. Gusty northwest winds develop behind the front Thursday with the pressure gradient tight enough that some type of wind headlines will likely be needed. Much cooler temperatures are expected Thursday with some areas not getting out of the 50s. Long Term...Friday through Tuesday night Not a lot to talk about in the long term really. It appears it will be a dry forecast period, as a strong ridge of high pressure develops over the Rockies in the wake of the departing upper low that will have brought another round of rainfall to Arkansas today and tomorrow. The result will be mostly clear/sunny conditions and a gradual warmup through the late week and weekend time period.
