MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 0983
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0146 AM CDT SUN JUN 19 2016

AREAS AFFECTED...NORTHERN ND

CONCERNING...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 272...

VALID 190646Z - 190815Z

THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 272
CONTINUES.

SUMMARY...THE RISK FOR A SWATH OF SEVERE WIND GUSTS WITH EMBEDDED
HAIL WILL LIKELY PERSIST THROUGH THE REST OF THE NIGHT AS A STORM
CLUSTER OVER MOUNTRAIL COUNTY PROGRESSES GENERALLY EASTWARD.

DISCUSSION...STORM CLUSTER OVER MOUNTRAIL COUNTY MAY TRACK A BIT
MORE NORTHEASTERLY IN THE NEAR-TERM GIVEN A POCKET OF SLIGHTLY LOWER
DEW POINTS AROUND 64 DEG F SAMPLED BY KHZE AND KN60 TO ITS SOUTHEAST
ALONG THE MISSOURI RIVER. THIS SUGGESTS MLCIN IS COMPARATIVELY
HIGHER IN THIS PORTION OF CENTRAL ND. SURFACE DEW POINTS ACROSS
NORTH-CENTRAL INTO EASTERN ND REMAIN MORE MOIST GENERALLY FROM 66-68
DEG F. THIS CLUSTER MAY TEND TO RIDE ALONG AND JUST SOUTH OF THE
ARCING WARM FRONT CURRENTLY LOCATED FROM SOUTHERN BOTTINEAU TO WALSH
COUNTIES. DEEP-LAYER SHEAR IS QUITE STRONG PER MINOT VWP DATA AND
WILL REMAIN FAVORABLE FOR A FAST-MOVING CLUSTER WITH EMBEDDED
SUPERCELL STRUCTURE. A SWATH OF SEVERE WIND GUSTS APPEARS TO BE THE
PRIMARY HAZARD...BUT WIND-DRIVEN HAIL IS POSSIBLE AS WELL.
