NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0616 AM CDT SAT JUN 18 2016
AREAS AFFECTED...WESTERN/CENTRAL OK
CONCERNING...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 269...
VALID 181116Z - 181145Z
THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 269
CONTINUES.
SUMMARY...SEVERE RISK HAS BECOME MINIMAL WITHIN WW 269. STRONG WIND
GUSTS MAY STILL ACCOMPANY THE OUTFLOW WHICH HAS SURGED WELL TO THE
SOUTHEAST OF WEAKENING STORMS OVER NORTHWEST OK.
DISCUSSION...11Z SURFACE ANALYSIS PLACED A SURGING OUTFLOW BOUNDARY
FROM OKLAHOMA TO KIOWA COUNTIES. WHILE STRONG WIND GUSTS HAVE BEEN
PREVALENT ALONG THE BOWING SHAPED PORTION OF THE SURGE /MOST
RECENTLY 43 KT AT KPWA AND 42 KT AT KRQO/...IT HAS BECOME WELL
SEPARATED BY ABOUT 60 MILES FROM THE WEAKENING STORM CLUSTER FARTHER
NORTHWEST. THIS ACTIVITY COULD STILL PRODUCE SMALL HAIL GIVEN THE
UPSTREAM INFLOW OF STEEP MID-LEVEL LAPSE RATES...BUT OVERALL
CONVECTIVE TRENDS SUGGEST THE POTENTIAL FOR ADDITIONAL SEVERE STORMS
SHOULD BE LOW THIS MORNING.
