...Forecast Flooding Changed from Minor to Moderate Severity for the 
following rivers in Missouri...
  The Marmaton River near Nevada affecting Vernon County

.This warning is based on future forecast precipitation amounts of 
1 to 2 inches during the next 24 hours near the river basins.
If conditions warrant...additional rises or falls may occur based on 
future precipitation and runoff.

  H and Route T west and north of Deerfield, or west of Nevada.

* Flood stage is 15.0 feet. 
* Minor flooding is forecast. 
* Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage by tonight and 
  continue to rise to near 16.0 feet by tomorrow morning. The river 
  will fall below flood stage by tomorrow early afternoon.
* Impact...At 15.0 feet...Flood waters impact Shoal Canoe Rental and 
  Motel one mile south of the gage site. Railey Creek at the rental 
  and hotel area begins to backwater along the James River.

.Recent heavy rainfall has caused river levels to rise. Levels are
currently above flood stage or forecast to rise above flood stage.
Campers and other interests along these rivers should monitor river
levels and seek higher ground if flooding is observed.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive through flowing water. Nearly half of all flood
fatalities are vehicle related. As little as 6 inches of water may
cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Two feet of water will
carry most vehicles away.

* At 9:30 PM Thursday The stage was 14.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...rise above flood stage by tonight and continue to rise
to near 18.5 feet by tomorrow early afternoon. The river will fall
below flood stage by Saturday morning.
* Impact...At 20.0 feet...Moderate Flood Stage. Flood waters affect
the north and south side of the Highway 43 Bridge and the Cowskin
Public Fishing access area on the northeast side of the bridge. The
Waste Water Treatment Plant begins flood prevention measures.
