NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK

AREAS AFFECTED...MN...NWRN WI
CONCERNING...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 307...
VALID 280311Z - 280445Z
THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 307
CONTINUES.
SUMMARY...THUNDERSTORMS...A FEW SEVERE...CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE
WATCH AREA. PRIMARY SEVERE THREAT WITH THESE THUNDERSTORMS IS SEVERE
WIND GUSTS WHILE A LOW-END SEVERE HAIL THREAT ALSO EXISTS.
DISCUSSION...THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUE TO DEVELOP/PERSIST IN THE WARM
SECTOR AHEAD OF A GRADUALLY SLOWING COLD FRONT PUSHING EWD ACROSS
MN. TWO PRIMARY AREAS OF CONVECTION HAVE DEVELOPED...ONE ALONG THE
WARM FRONT EXTENDING ACROSS CNTRL MI SEWD INTO NRN WI AND THE OTHER
ALONG THE COLD FRONT ACROSS SRN MN. THE TSTMS INVOF THE WARM FRONT
WILL LIKELY PERSIST FOR THE NEXT FEW HOURS WITH A PRIMARY THREAT OF
DAMAGING WIND GUSTS. THE TSTMS ACROSS SRN MN WERE ACCELERATING EWD
DURING THE PAST HOUR BUT THE RECENT MPX RADAR IMAGERY SHOWS THE
OUTFLOW BEGINNING TO PROGRESSES AHEAD OF THE LINE. GIVEN THIS AND
THE CONTINUING STABILIZATION OF THE BOUNDARY LAYER...THIS LINE IS
EXPECTED TO WEAKEN OVER THE NEXT FEW HOURS. STRENGTHENING LOW-LEVEL
JET MAY ENABLE A BRIEF PERIOD WHERE THIS ACTIVITY INTENSIFIES BUT
UNCERTAINTY REGARDING THAT SCENARIO IS HIGH. THERE IS A VERY LOW
THREAT OF AN EMBEDDED TORNADO WITH THIS ACTIVITY. CURRENT THINKING
IS THAT THE ACTIVITY WILL GRADUALLY WEAKENING DURING THE NEXT FEW
HOURS. AS A RESULT...PROBABILITY OF DOWNSTREAM WATCH ISSUANCE IS
LOW. REGARDLESS...STRONGER STORMS WILL REMAIN CAPABLE OF ISOLATED
DAMAGING WIND AND HAIL AS THEY PROPAGATE THROUGH THE REMAINING
NARROW INSTABILITY AXIS.
