NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO TX
410 AM CDT SUN JUN 30 2002

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN AUSTIN SAN ANTONIO HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES...
  GUADALUPE

* UNTIL 700 AM CDT

* AT 405 AM...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED VERY HEAVY 
RAINS THROUGHOUT MUCH OF GUADELUPE COUNTY.  GUADALUPE COUNTY 
SHERIFF'S  DEPARTMENT REPORTED CREEKS WELL OUT OF BANKS IN THE 
GERONIMO AREA WITH WATER OVER THE ROADWAYS.  4 TO 6 INCHES OF RAIN 
HAVE BEEN REPORTED OVER CENTRAL GUADALUPE COUNTY SINCE 9 PM LAST 
NIGHT.

HEAVY SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE TO TRAIN AND MOVE NORTHWARD OVER         
GUADALUPE COUNTY OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS.    

CREEKS AND SMALL STREAMS WILL FLOOD THE NEXT FEW HOURS.  MOTORISTS 
SHOULD BE AWARE THAT SOME SECONDARY ROADS AND LOW WATER CROSSINGS 
WILL BE FLOODED AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. 

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL
CREEKS AND STREAMS...HIGHWAYS AND UNDERPASSES. ADDITIONALLY...COUNTRY
ROADS AND FARMLANDS ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS AND STREAMS AND OTHER
LOW LYING AREAS ARE SUBJECT TO FLASH FLOODING.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT
QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY
IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY.
MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
