NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SALT LAKE CITY UT
953 PM MDT SAT JUL 25 1998

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SALT LAKE CITY HAS ISSUED A

   * FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
     EMERY COUNTY IN UTAH
     INCLUDING THE SAN RAFAEL SWELL

   * UNTIL MIDNIGHT MDT

   * WEATHER SATELLITES INDICATE HEAVY RAINS ARE FALLING IN THE SAN 
RAFAEL SWELL AREA OF CENTRAL UTAH.  THIS AREA IS VERY PRONE TO FLASH 
FLOODS.  

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS EMINENT.

RAINFALL RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF WASHES 
AND STEEP CANYONS WITHIN THE SAN RAFEAL SWELL.  

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE 
DANGERS OF FLASH FLOODS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. 
MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN 
AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
