000 TTAA00 KHOU 232340 RRA TORHOU TXC373-240015- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED TORNADO WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HOUSTON/GALVESTON TX 640 PM CDT THU OCT 23 1997 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HOUSTON/GALVESTON HAS ISSUED A TORNADO WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 715 PM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN SOUTHEAST TEXAS ...SOUTHERN POLK COUNTY AT 638 PM...RADAR INDICATED A TORNADIC THUNDERSTORM NEAR SEGNO. THIS STORM WAS MOVING TO THE EAST-NORTHEAST AT 30 MPH. LARGE HAIL IS ALSO LIKELY WITH THIS STORM. THIS WARNING EXTENDS THE WARNING ISSUED EARLIER FOR POLK COUNTY. IF YOU ARE IN THE PATH OF A TORNADO... SEEK SHELTER IN AN INTERIOR ROOM... SUCH AS A CLOSET OR HALLWAY ON THE LOWEST FLOOR POSSIBLE. AVOID WINDOWS AND PROTECT YOUR BODY FROM FLYING DEBRIS WITH CUSHIONS... BLANKETS... OR PILLOWS.
