000 TTAA00 KCRW 191342 FFWCRW WVC001-191800- BULLETIN FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CHARLESTON WV 944 AM EDT FRI JUL 19 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CHARLESTON HAS ISSUED A FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 200 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...... IN NORTH CENTRAL WEST VIRGINIA ...BARBOUR COUNTY HEAVY RAINFALL OVER ALREADY SATURATED GROUND HAS CAUSED SEVERAL STREAMS TO OVERFLOW IN BARBOUR COUNTY. TETER CREEK WAS OVERFLOWING AND WATER WAS ON THE ADJACENT ROADWAY. ELK CREEK IN WESTERN BARBOUR COUNTY WAS REPORTED OVERFLOWING AND WATER WAS ON ROUTE 57 IN SEVERAL LOCATIONS. HACKERS CREEK ROAD WAS ALSO BLOCKED BY HIGH WATER. ANGLINS RUN IN PHILIPPI WAS AT BANKFULL AND WATER WAS THREATENING SEVERAL HOMES ALONG SOUTH MAIN STREET. ON CITY STREET WAS CLOSED DUE TO HIGH WATER. THE HEAVIEST RAIN HAS MOVED SOUTH OF BARBOUR COUNTY. HOWEVER... MORE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WERE DEVELOPING IN EASTERN OHIO AND NORTHERN WEST VIRGINIA AND MORE HEAVY RAIN IS POSSIBLE FROM THESE STORMS LATER THIS MORNING AND THIS AFTERNOON. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDINGHT FOR BARBOUR COUNTY. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADDWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND. WATCH OUT FOR MUD SLIDES. ZINN
