000 TTAA00 KRDU 102334 FFWRDU NCC067-110130- BULLETIN - EBS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RALEIGH/DURHAM NC 730 PM EDT TUE SEP 10 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RALEIGH/DURHAM HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 930 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN NORTH CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA ...FORSYTH COUNTY RAINFALL ESTIMATES FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER WEATHER RADAR INDICATES THAT FROM 2 TO 4 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN IN WINSTON- SALEM...AND SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES.. WITHIN THE PAST HOUR OR SO. A NUMBER OF ROADS ARE ALREADY CLOSED DUE TO HIGH WATER...WITH AS MUCH AS THREE FEET OF WATER COVERING SOME ROADS. THE AREA OF HEAVY SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS THAT PRODUCED THIS FLOODING IS MOVING VERY LITTLE...SO FLOODING WILL CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS. FLOOD WATERS ARE HARDER TO SEE AT NIGHT AND MOST FLASH FLOOD FATALITIES OCCUR AT NIGHT. AVOID DRIVING ACROSS FLO`ODED ROADWAYS. WATER TWO FEET DEEP CAN FLOAT MOST CARS OFF THE ROAD. REPORT FLOODING TO LOCAL EMERGENCY OFFICIALS IMMEDIATELY.
