000 TTAA00 KMIA 081654 SVRMIA FLC011-025-081745- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIAMI FL 1248 PM EDT TUE OCT 8 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MIAMI HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 145 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN SOUTHEAST FLORIDA ...BROWARD COUNTY...DADE COUNTY AT 1243 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OVER BROWARD COUNTY NEAR THE SAWGRASS EXPRESSWAY EXTENDING SOUTH INTO WESTERN DADE COUNTY ABOUT 5 MILES WEST OF KROME AVENUE THEN CONTINUING SOUTH TO 7 MILES WEST OF FLORIDA CITY. THE LINE OF STORMS WAS MOVING EAST AT 10 MPH...HOWEVER INDIVIDUAL STORMS WITHIN THE LINE WERE RACING NORTHEAST AT 30 TO 40 MPH. THE LINE OF STORMS WILL BE AFFECTING METRO AREAS OF BROWARD AND DADE COUNTIES BY 100 PM EDT. DAMAGING WIND IN EXCESS OF 55 MPH...VERY HEAVY RAIN...AND DEADLY LIGHTNING ARE ALL POSSIBLE WITH THESE STORMS. SEEK SHELTER IN A STRONG BUILDING. STAY AWAY FROM WINDOWS. DO NOT USE TELEPHONES OR ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES. A TORNADO WATCH IS ALSO IN EFFECT FOR THE AREA. REMEMBER...SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OFTEN DO PRODUCE TORNADOES WITH^ LITTLE OR NO WARNING.
