000 TTAA00 KMIA 081249 SVRMIA FLC021-081345- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIAMI FL 844 AM EDT TUE OCT 8 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MIAMI HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 945 AM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...... IN SOUTHWEST FLORIDA ...COLLIER COUNTY AND THE ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS AT 840 AM MIAMI DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS MOVING THROUGH COLLIER COUNTY FROM NEAR SUNNILAND TO MARCO ISLAND THEN OFFSHORE INTO THE COASTAL WATERS. THE LINE WAS MOVING EAST AT 15 MPH WHILE INDIVIDUAL THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING NORTHEAST AT 40 TO 45 MPH. BRIEF LOCAL WIND GUSTS ABOVE 55 MPH MAY BE EXPECTED ALONG WITH VERY HEAVY RAINS AND FREQUENT LIGHTNING. A TORNADO WATCH IS ALSO IN EFFECT FOR THE WARNED AREA. REMEMBER... SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN PRODUCE TORNADOES WITH LITTLE OR NO ADVANCE WARNING.
