000 TTAA00 KATL 061808 SVRATL GAC187-061845- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PEACHTREE CITY GA 208 PM EDT MON MAY 6 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PEACHTREE CITY HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 245 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN NORTHEAST GEORGIA ...NORTHERN LUMPKIN COUNTY AT 207 PM EDT WEATHER RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM NEAR DESOTO FALLS. THE STORM WAS MOVING EAST 35 MPH. WHEN THUNDERSTORMS ARE OCCURRING...PEOPLE SHOULD MOVE INSIDE A STRONG BUILDING. DO NOT STAND BY WINDOWS. DON'T USE TELEPHONES OR ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES UNLESS IN AN EMERGENCY UNTIL THE STORM HAS PASSED. MOTORISTS SHOULD NOT DRIVE INTO LOW WATER CROSSINGS.

A SLOW MOVING FRONT ACROSS TENNESSEE WILL CONTINUE DRIFTING SOUTH INTO EXTREME NORTH GEORGIA THIS AFTERNOON. A VERY UNSTABLE AIRMASS WILL ALLOW THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT IN THE AFTERNOON HEAT. THE THUNDERSTORMS ARE MORE LIKELY OVER NORTH GRORGIA BUT SOME OF THE STORMS COULD DEVELOP OR MOVE INTO CENTRAL GEORGIA AS FAR SOUTH AS A LINE EXTENDING FROM HAMILTON TO PERRY TO SOPERTON.
