000 TTAA00 KATL 062142 SVRATL GAC157-062215- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PEACHTREE CITY GA 543 PM EDT MON MAY 6 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PEACHTREE CITY HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 615 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN NORTHEAST GEORGIA ...JACKSON COUNTY AT 540 PM WEATHER RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM 5 MILES SOUTHEAST OF JEFFERSON. THE SEVERE STORM WAS MOVING TO THE EAST AT 20 MPH. WHEN THUNDERSTORMS ARE OCCURRING...PEOPLE SHOULD MOVE INSIDE A STRONG BUILDING. DO NOT STAND BY WINDOWS. DON'T USE TELEPHONES OR ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES UNLESS IN AN EMERGENCY UNTIL THE STORM HAS PASSED. MOTORISTS SHOULD NOT DRIVE INTO LOW WATER CROSSINGS.

A SLOW MOVING FRONT ACROSS TENNESSEE WILL CONTINUE DRIFTING SOUTH INTO EXTREME NORTH GEORGIA THIS AFTERNOON. A VERY UNSTABLE AIRMASS WILL ALLOW THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT IN THE AFTERNOON HEAT. THE THUNDERSTORMS ARE MORE LIKELY OVER NORTH GRORGIA BUT SOME OF THE STORMS COULD DEVELOP OR MOVE INTO CENTRAL GEORGIA AS FAR SOUTH AS A LINE EXTENDING FROM HAMILTON TO PERRY TO SOPERTON.
