THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PEACHTREE CITY HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  115 AM EST
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN NORTHWEST GEORGIA
 
   ...CATOOSA COUNTY...DADE COUNTY...WALKER COUNTY
   ...WHITFIELD COUNTY
 
MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN CONTINUED TO FALL ACROSS MUCH OF NORTH GEORGIA
THIS EVENING. RAINFALL TOTALS OF AT LEAST 2 TO 3 INCHES HAVE BEEN
REPORTED.
 
WATER IS FLOWING ONTO SOME ROADS AND THERE HAVE BEEN REPORTS OF ROADS
BEING CLOSED DUE TO HIGH WATER. AN APARTMENT COMPLEX IN CATOOSA COUNTY
IS BEING EVACUATED DUE TO RISING WATER.
 
CONDITIONS WILL ONLY WORSEN THROUGH THE EVENING HOURS AS HEAVY RAIN IS
EXPECTED TO CONTINUE FOR SEVERAL MORE HOURS.  THIS IS AN EXTREMELY
DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR MOTORISTS.  AVOID TRAVEL ON SECONDARY ROADS IN
THE WARNED AREA UNLESS IN AN EMERGENCY.
 
PEOPLE LIVING IN LOW LYING OR FLOOD PRONE AREAS SHOULD BE PREPARED TO
MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.  KEEP AN EYE ON WATER LEVELS.
 
 
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.  IF FLASH FLOODING IS
OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY.  MOVE UP TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.  DO
NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
