THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBUQUERQUE HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1030 AM MDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN CENTRAL NEW MEXICO
 
   ...WESTERN TORRANCE COUNTY
 
AREAS OF MODERATE TO LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE SLOWLY
NORTH-NORTHEAST OVER WESTERN AND NORTHERN TORRANCE COUNTY THROUGH
MID-MORNING. RAINFALL RATES OF ONE-HALF TO NEARLY ONE INCH PER HOUR
CAN BE EXPECTED.
 
THE ADDITIONAL RAIN WILL AGGRAVATE THE ALREADY SATURATED CONDITIONS
IN THE REGION. RAPID RUNOFF FROM THE MANZANOS WILL POSE A THREAT FOR
FLASH FLOODING OF ARROYOS AND LOW LYING AREAS.
 
THE SHOWERS AND EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING NORTH-NORTHEAST AT 15
MPH.
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS
IMMINENT.  MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS
THE ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL
ONE...ON FOOT.  TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND.
