THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN FORT WORTH HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS
 
   ...LEON COUNTY
 
IN NORTHEAST TEXAS
 
   ...ANDERSON COUNTY...HENDERSON COUNTY
 
AT 859 PM CDT...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THAT A LINE OF
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAINFALL EXTENDED FROM
EAST OF COLLEGE STATION TO NEAR PALESTINE TO ATHENS. THE SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS WITHIN THE LINE WERE MOVING NORTH AT 25 MPH BUT WERE
REGENERATING OVER THE SAME AREAS RESULTING IN LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL.
 
RADAR ESTIMATES THAT FROM TWO TO THREE INCHES OF RAIN HAS ALREADY FALLEN
ACROSS PORTIONS OF THESE COUNTIES WITH ADDITIONAL AMOUNTS OF ONE TO
THREE INCHES LIKELY IN THE NEXT FEW HOURS. THIS HEAVY RAINFALL WILL
RESULT IN FLASH FLOODING.
 
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.  IF FLASH FLOODING IS
OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY.  MOVE UP TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.  DO
NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
MOTORISTS SHOULD NEVER DRIVE THROUGH FLOODED ROADWAYS.
