000 TTAA00 KRST 162218 SVRRST MNC055-169-162300- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ROCHESTER MN 518 PM CDT SAT MAY 16 1992 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ROCHESTER MN HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 600 PM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS... IN SOUTHEAST MINNESOTA ...NORTHWESTERN HOUSTON COUNTY...WINONA COUNTY THIS WARNING INCLUDES WHITEWATER STATE PARK...AND THE TOWNS OF ST. CHARLES...ALTURA...AND WINONA. AT 510 PM CDT RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS EXTREME SOUTHEAST MINNESOTA FROM WINONA TO SOUTHEAST OF ROCHESTER NEAR SPRING VALLEY. THE THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING NORTHEAST AT 30 MPH ALONG THE LINE AS THE LINE MOVES SLOWLY EAST AT 15 MPH. IF YOU ARE IN THE PATH OF THE STORMS...GO IMMEDIATELY TO A STRONG REINFORCED BUILDING. A TORNADO WATCH IS ALSO IN EFFECT FOR PARTS OF SOUTHEAST AND SOUTH CENTRAL MINNESOTA UNTIL 10 PM CDT. A TORNADO WATCH IS ALSO IN EFFECT FOR THE WARNED AREA. REMEMBER SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY DO PRODUCE TORNADOES WITH LITTLE OR NO ADVANCE WARNING. REMAIN CALM BUT BE ALERT TO RAPIDLY CHANGING WEATHER CONDITIONS. WHEN THUNDERSTORMS ARE OCCURRING..MOVE INSIDE A STRONG BUILDING DO NOT STAND BY WINDOWS. DON'T USE TELEPHONES OR ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES UNLESS IN AN EMERGENCY.
