THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN JACKSON HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  200 AM CST
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES...
 
IN SOUTH CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI
          ...LAWRENCE...MARION
 
AT 1240AM...HEAVY RAINS WERE CONTINUING WITH SOME BRIDGES BEING
REPORTED AS GOING UNDER WATER FROM AROUND MONTICELLO TO COLUMBIA.
THE PEARL RIVER WAS RAPIDLY RISING IN THESE AREAS AND CONTRIBUTING
TO POOR DRAINAGE.  A BAND OF EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS MOVING THROUGH
THESE COUNTIES COULD DUMP AN ADDITIONAL 1 TO 3 INCHES BEFORE THE
RAIN TAPERS OFF AROUND 2AM.
 
 
MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT ATTEMPT
TO CROSS BRIDGES OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE ROAD.  NEVER
TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON FOOT.
